Figure Drawing Instructor: Vincent Hawkins Learn to Draw like Leonardo DaVinci in this 10-week figure drawing workshop. Students will explore classical drawing technique for rendering the human form in conte crayon, pencil, silver point and various other drawing mediums. In addition to drawing, the class offers a chance to sculpturally study the human form, as well. Beginning and Intermediate Painting Instructor: Vincent Hawkins Open to all levels, this course will teach principles of design and color theory, and the basics of pallet layout, paining mediums and technique Primarily an oil painting class, the goal is to equip you with the skills necessary to fulfill your own artistic vision. Yes this is a class where you will learn the techniques used to make medieval "plate" armor like what you see in the Art Institute and the movie Lord of the Rings. Beginning Foundry | Metal (Bronze) Casting Instructors: Vincent Hawkins, Kristin Komorowski, & Michael Bennett The beginning metal foundry class is designed to familiarize students with the basics of lost wax casting process. Students will learn basic wax casting and working technique, gating and venting, ceramic shell and investment molding techniques. Students will be required to complete at least 3 finished projects to be cast in bronze, iron, aluminum, or copper. |
Intermediate Foundry | Metal (Bronze) Casting Instructors: Vincent Hawkins, Kristin Komorowski, & Michael Bennett The intermediate metal foundry class is designed to give a basic understanding of foundry procedure and the techniques for doing large scale casting in iron, bronze, aluminum, and copper. The burnout kiln, wax recycling operations, and patination techniques will be covered. Students will participate in iron, bronze, aluminum and copper pours. As before, students will be required to complete at least 3 finished projects cast in bronze. |
Advanced Foundry | Metal (Bronze) Casting Instructor: Vincent Hawkins The advanced metal foundry class will give students a level of mastery over the process of casting art works in bronze, iron, aluminum, and copper. We will cover kiln design and construction, ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy and alloying. Students are required to take at least 2 intermediate metal foundry classes before being accepted for enrollment in the advance foundry class. |
Beginning Mold Making Instructors: TBD In the beginning mold making class students will learn basic techniques of plaster molding. We will cover how to make one piece molds, two piece molds, waste molds in plaster, and latex rubber molds. These techniques would be beneficial for any student, but particularly helpful to anyone interested in foundry work or casting in a variety of materials. |
Intermediate Mold Making Instructors: TBD Students in the intermediate mold making class will learn more advanced molding techniques. Making multiple piece plaster molds, urethane and silicones rubber molds, techniques for drawing out and gaging symmetrical forms in plaster using a template, as well as model building in plaster and styrofoam will be covered. These techniques will also be of help for those interested in the Fire Arts foundry classes. |

Beginning Metal Sculpture Instructor: Vincent Hawkins This class focuses on how to work sculptural concepts from the drawing board to the scale model stage of construction. Students will be expected to keep a sketchbook of ideas which will be critiqued and refined at each class session. Students will learn basic metal fabrication technique. |
Advanced Metal Sculpture Instructor: Vincent Hawkins This class deals with fabrication of large scale metal sculpture from models or free-form. As with Beginning Metal Sculpture, students will be expected to keep a sketchbook of ideas which will be critiqued and refined at each class session. Students will learn advanced metal fabrication technique, gas forging, Acetylene welding, and gas and arc welding techniques as well as brazing and chasing techniques. |

Beginning Stone Carving Workshop Instructors: Bouba In beginning stone carving students will learn the basic techniques for composing and carving small sculpture out of alabaster and other soft stones. Students will need to purchase carving tools and materials. (This class is not for students with back problems or arthritis.) |
Intermediate Stone Carving Workshop Instructors: Bouba In intermediate stone carving students will learn how to work with medium hardness stones like sandstones and lime stones. Students can carve small sculpture projects in a stone of medium hardness or can learn to carve larger project in soft stones. (This class is not for students with back problems or arthritis.) |
Kid's Jewelry: Beginning Decorative Arts Monday 2:00 - 4:00pm | $195 for 8 weeks Kids will create fun gifts: small jewelry, pendants, decorative containers, and small sculpture with femo, wire, and other materials. 4 Projects: decorative box, necklaces, ring, and small sculpture. |
Kid's Beginning Hand Building Tuesday 2:00 - 4:00pm | $195 for 8 weeks In this class kids will learn hand building techniques to create animals, cups, houses, boxes and other fun projects. Students will also learn how to apply color to their custom creations with a variety of glazes. 3 Projects: animals, bowl, and a decorative box. |
Kid's Kites and Animals: Kid's Sculpture Workshop Wednesday 12:00 - 2:00pm | $250 for 10 weeks This multimedia class is designed to be an introduction to sculpture. First kids will create and paint different kinds of kites. Next kids will learn to create free-standing papier-mâché animal masks. Finally students will learn how to make hand-built animals and people. 3 Projects: mask, kite and hand-built animal sculptures |
Kid's Drawing Exploration Thursday 2:00 - 4:00pm | $195 for 8 weeks This basic class is designed to teach kids methods of composition and design as well as to offer students an opportunity to explore a variety of drawing media. Projects range from abstract colored paper compositions, charcoal value drawings, and pencil, pen and ink drawing. 5 projects: slide show emphasizing the fundamentals of form and composition. |
